“The CW Bay Area” and Children's Hospital & Research Center
Oakland partner to call attention to the benefits
of the California Youth Soccer Association
“The CW Bay Area” and Children's Hospital & Research Center Oakland have
partnered to create a campaign that will call attention to the positive role the
California Youth Soccer Association (CYSA) plays in young lives.
The campaign entitled “Celebrate Soccer Tour” will include a series of television
spots that provide facts about youth soccer, as well as youth sports medicine tips
from Children's Hospital & Research Center Oakland. In addition, “Celebrate
Soccer Tour” will visit a number of CYSA youth soccer tournaments throughout
August, handing out free sports water bottles, providing helpful sports medicine
advice and giving young players a chance to learn while having fun between
tournament games.
Plans call for the campaign to culminate later this fall with the "Children's
Hospital & Research Center Oakland/The CW Bay Area/CYSA Cup"--a CYSA
Division III Invitational tournament. Highlights of the tournament will be broadcast
in a half-hour special on The CW Bay Area.
"Youth soccer is such an important influence on young people and their entire
families," stated Dennis Marshall, Sales Marketing Manager for KPIX/KBCW.
"We're proud to make the Bay Area more aware of the great things being done
by the California Youth Soccer Association."
“We unveiled the first pediatric sports medicine program in Northern California
because children require specialized care for their growing bodies, said Scott
Hoffinger, M.D., Medical Director, Sports Medicine Center for Young Athletes at
Children’s Hospital Oakland. “Our partnership with the CW Bay Area and CYSA
perfectly matches our commitment to educate and assist parents who want their
children to play safe and smart.”
"We welcome this opportunity and look forward to working with The CW Bay
Area and Children's Hospital & Research Center Oakland for the betterment of
-1-
our community," said John Murphy, chairman of CYSA. "We also appreciate the
increased visibility and awareness of the benefits to our youth of CYSA
participation."
The "Celebrate Soccer Tour" plans to visit the following tournaments:

The Central Valley Magic Cup III in San Jose and San Ramon Valley Cup
on Saturday, August 5

The Hayward Girls Classic and Claire Ann O’Neil Mission Bell Classic in
San Rafael on Saturday, August 12
