Day 3 :Seeds growing well, hair continues to grow on seed 1. Seed 3 coming in

Day 4 :Hair begins to spread to seed 2. Seed 3 growing much faster than others.
Seed 1 2.9, seed 2 2, seed 3 3.8, seed 4 2.6.
Day 5 :Seed 3 finishes in first place with seed 4 in last. Seeds 1 and 2 still
growing hairs. Seed 1 3.6, seed 2 3.4, seed 3 4.5, seed 4 3.1
Purple Dye
Day 1: Seeds begin very
similar to control, no difference
can be seen yet. Seed 1 .4, seed 2
.7, seed 3 .9, seed 4 .9.
Day 2: Seeds continue to
grow, numbers are much closer
together than the control group.
Seed 4 begins to grow slight
amounts of hair more will
probably follow. Seeds 1,2 and 3
1.2 while seed 4 is hurdling ahead at 1.4.
Day 3: Seed 3 pokes ahead, seed 4 continues to grow hairs. Seed 1 1.9, seed 2 1.8,
seed 3 2, seed 4 2.3.
Day 4: Seed numbers begin to vary, seed 1 goes into first. A considerable increase
from dye plants to control can be seen at this point. Seed 1 3.1, seed 2 2.6, seed 3 2.9,
seed 4 2.9.
Day 5: Seed 1 finishes in first place. Dyed plants finish with much higher
numbers. Considerable amount of hair is found on seed 4, seems to not have an affect on
plant growth. Seed 1 4, seed 2 3, seed 3 3.5, seed 4 3.8.
Conclusion:
By taking observation throughout our experiments we realized that our hypothesis
was correct. This was that The plants containing the dye would have increased growth
patterns. Even though seed 3 in our control group had an extreme growth rate the average
growth was still considerably less than the ones of the purple dye group. This shows why
it is so important to have many subjects in each test.
Other Observations:
We also noticed that throughout the test 3 of our seeds were take over by a
hair like fungi. Even though it looks very weird it seemed to not have any affects on the
plants ,but I do believe that on a larger scale these hairs could harm the seeds by taking
away water and nutrients.
