Save the Iguanas
Iguanas are a type of lizard. There are many different species. They
have long tails, and four legs. In captivity they live 15 to 20 years.
Most iguanas live in trees and dirt or in the deserts of Mexico and
South America.
They eat leaves, flowers and fruit. Sometimes the green iguanas eat
insects, worms, or a small animal which makes them omnivores. The
monitor lizard is also sometimes called an Iguana.
Like many rainforest animals, the iguana is threatened by loss of
habitat. It is also a victim of the pet industry. Some people in South America
even hunt them for food.
