NEWS RELEASE Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers to Hold Live Auction Event at the Great American Trucking Show FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, August 14, 2008 DALLAS, TEXAS – The Dallas Convention Center will be home to the 10th annual Great American Trucking Show (GATS) on August 21 – 23, and Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers (NYSE and TSX: RBA), the world’s largest auctioneer of transportation and industrial equipment, will be selling an unused 2007 Peterbilt truck by unreserved (absolute) auction from the Company’s booth during the trade show. Ritchie Bros. is pleased to invite GATS attendees as well as the transportation industry media to attend and be part of this special event. On Friday, August 22, Ritchie Bros. will be accepting bids from the trade show floor on an unused 2007 Peterbilt 335 4,000 Gal. T/A water truck. The truck is being sold as part of the Company’s regularly scheduled Phoenix, AZ auction, which takes place on August 21 and 22. The Phoenix auction will be simulcast in the Ritchie Bros. booth at GATS, and show attendees will able to bid in person on the truck in the booth as well as an identical sister truck located in Phoenix. Bids will be relayed, in real time, by Ritchie Bros. staff at the show back to the auctioneer in Phoenix. Ritchie Bros. will only be accepting bids on these two items from the trade show floor; people wanting to bid on other items in the Phoenix auction are encouraged to place proxy bids or register for online bidding at www.rbauction.com. GATS attendees interested in bidding on these two trucks can register at the Ritchie Bros. booth (#14127, Hall F) from the opening of the show until auction time on Friday afternoon (approximate sale time TBA). The trucks will sell without minimum bids or reserve prices to the highest bidder, regardless of price or the buyer’s location. This year’s show marks the 10th consecutive appearance for Ritchie Bros. as a GATS exhibitor. Ritchie Bros. has the largest selection of unused, low-mileage and used transportation equipment anywhere and sold more than 17,000 transportation items in 2007.
