Trigonometric Ratios
Trigonometric Ratio
o Trigonometry (from Greek trigonon "triangle" + metron
"measure”).
o The ratio of side lengths in a right triangle based on the
given angle.
o The Greek letter theta, θ, is traditionally used to represent the
measure of an acute angle in a right triangle.

Title notes: Tangent Ratio
Tangent Ratio
Right Triangle:
o “Opposite” is opposite side length to the angle θ.
o “Adjacent” is adjacent (next to) to the angle θ.
o “Hypotenuse” is the longest side length or opposite side to the
right angle.

Tangent Ratio (Slope of a Line)
.
We use tangent ratio to find slope of an angle
Note: The hypotenuse is NEVER a component of tangent.
