PAP ART HISTORY is an excellent opportunity to introduce students to the
wonders of art through the ages. Being able to develop the language to critically
analyze a work of art not only enables students to see history through an artistic
lens, but also allows students to be comfortable, knowledgeable, and successful with
any art related situation. Ideally, students will further pursue their college ready
preparation by taking the AP Art History course. With the skills and knowledge
they develop in THIS class, they will definitely be ready to perform and EXCEL in
AP ART HISTORY. 100% of students who have taken this PAP Art History class
have passed the AP test the following year.

Pre-Advanced Placement Art History is designed to provide students with foundations in
historical, formal, and contextual art terms. These terms will be accompanied by
examples of painting, sculpture, drawing, performance, architecture, and many other
forms of artistic expression. Students will be expected to develop a language for critically
examining and understanding artwork as well as forming an overall appreciation of
artwork throughout its history. The Dallas/ Fort Worth area has an exceedingly rich
artistic and cultural area, and students are encouraged to visit the areas museums in their
free time. This class serves as a Pre-Requisite for AP Art History for an incoming
sophomore.
