Geography definition: is the study of Earth’s features, such as rivers (a running body of water) and deserts (a large area of land usually lacking vegetation and water). Other features: Oceans, which is a large (or the largest) body of water. Continent: a large body of land. Lake: a body of water enclosed (surrounded) by land. Mountains: peaks that extend from the earth towards the sky. Climate: deals with temperature and weather in a given environment. Map Making (p.15) Cartography is the act of map making 1. Projection (earth is a sphere or round, features need to be kept when drawn on a flat surface). 2. Interpreting the past(p.31) History: is the study of past events. A Historian: is a person who studies and interprets, or explains the importance of, the past. Primary Source: is a document or artifact created during a particular historical period. Secondary Source: a work produced about a historical event by someone who was not actually there.
