PURPOSE/SUMMARY:
On October 7, 2009, the Construction Trades Qualifying Board (CTQB) voted to adopt language
found in HB 425, effective 10/01/09, and amend s. 342.108(a) M.O., creating a new subsections (3)
and (4). H 425 contained language giving local jurisdictions additional enforcement authority
over unlicensed contractors. Additionally the Florida Legislature raised the penalty threshold the
local jurisdictions may impose from $500 per each occurrence to $1000 per each occurrence.
This proposed change has been endorsed by the Florida Construction Coalition (Coalition). The
Coalition’s membership is composed of the majority of Florida’s construction trade associations.
