Silver Ribbon Campaign The goals and objectives of the Silver Ribbon Campaign are to: Eliminate or reduce the stigma associated with mental illness through an education and public awareness campaign. Create a climate within the school that will promote acceptance of students with mental health problems. Provide educators with appropriate support and materials to implement an awareness program about mental illness. Provide participants, high school students, staff and families with accurate information about mental illness in a thought-provoking manner. Provide support to students who have family members/friends with mental illness and students who have a mental illness. Provide students with the opportunity and resources to organize and initiate a public awareness campaign regarding mental illness issues. Specific Activities Provide a high school curriculum that teaches students about mental illness. Assist students as they organize a mental health awareness campaign in their community Provide mental health education and support to families in the high school community. Provide the Recognizing Early Warning Signs of Mental Illness in Children and Adolescents curriculum for school staff and families.”
