Common Core Unit Name:
Unit Number: 9
Trigonometry
Enduring Understanding:
After completing this unit in trigonometry, students will be able to discuss angle measures in terms of radians rather than just degrees
They should also be able to find the trigonometric functions of angles whose terminal side intersects the unit circle.
Also, students will do most of their work graphically with the sine and cosine functions and be able match data with the appropriate function. Students should also be
able to find trigonometric values using the Pythagorean Identity((sin x)^2 + (cos x)^2 = 1).

Essential Questions
F.TF.1 Can I explain that radian measure of an angle is the
length of the arc on the unit circle subtended by the angle?
F.TF.2 Can I explain how the unit circle in the coordinate
plane enables the extension of trigonometric functions to all
real numbers(radian measures) of angles measured
counterclockwise around the unit circle?
F.TF.5 Can I choose the appropriate trigonometric function
to model periodic data with specified amplitude, frequency
and midline?
F.TF.8 Can I prove the Pythagorean Identity((sin x)^2 +
(cosx)^2=1)?
F.TF.8 Can I use the Pythagorean Identity to find the value
of sine, cosine or tangent given one of the those values?
F.IF.7e Can I graph trigonometric functions showing period,
midline, and amplitude?
F.IF.4 Can I show the periodicity of the graph of a trig
function?
