WATER UP
HIGHLIGHT 3 FACTS THAT YOU FOUND OF
INTEREST
70% of the human body is made up of water
75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (This likely applies to those drinking
pop and think it hydrates, when in fact it does the opposite!)
In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that is often mistaken for
hunger.
Even mild dehydration will slow down one’s metabolism as much as 3%. A good
indicator of hydration levels is urine color. If your urine is more toward a dark yellow,
you need more water. Try to maintain a lemonade or clear-colored urine.
One glass of water shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters
studied in a University Washington study.
Lack of water is the #1 trigger for daytime fatigue.
Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease
back and joint pain for up to 80% of suffers.
Cold water is absorbed quicker and burns more calories.
A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with
basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.
Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of cancers. Colon cancer can be
reduced by 45%, breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder
cancer if water consumption is around 5 glasses or 40 ounces of water a day.

ARE YOU DRINKING ENOUGH WATER?
The old suggestion was 8 8-ounce glasses a day.
The new suggestion is to multiply your weight by 2/3 and drink that many ounces of
water a day.
For example a person that weighs 150 lb should drink 100 ounces of water in a days time.
Figure out how many ounces you should be drinking.
Your weight in lb _____________ X .666 =______________ounces.
Once you start drinking the accurate amount of water in a day you will want to sip your
water, this will allow the body to absorb what you are taking in. If you gulp it, you will
spend lots of the time in the bathroom.
Record the amount of water that you drink each day in ounces.
EX: MONDAY: 3 12 OZ GLASS, 3 20 OZ BOTTLES = 96 OZ
