Admission Test Example
The admission test has five questions. You should provide detailed answer for each
question including step by step explanation. The sample tasks below can give you an
idea of the type of questions and level of difficulty you will get.
1. Equations and inequalities, systems of equations and inequalities.


Three boxes have some nuts. First box have 6 pounds less than two others
combined. Second box has 10 pounds less than two others combined. How many
pounds of nuts the third box has?
7 bars of chocolate cost more, than 8 packs of cookies. What cost more: 8 bars of
chocolate or 9 packs of cookies?
2. Motion, mechanical work and percentage problems.


278 books were put to 3 shelves. The first shelve got 14 more books, than the
second. The third got 2 times more books than the second. How many books were
put to the first shelf?
The boat went 15 miles downstream the river and 4 miles through the lake in 1
hour. Find the boat’s own velocity if velocity of the river stream is 4 miles per
hour.
3. Algebra and Mathematical Analysis: function, function definition, extremum,
continuity, differentiability, domain, range.


Find the maxima of the function f(x)=6/x at the range of [1;12]
Calculate the area of the shape (S), bounded by lines y = x2, y = 0, x = 1, x = 2.
4. Logic

There are 3 suitcases and 3 keys. Every key fits one particular suitcase. You can
try only 3 times to fit a key to suitcase. Is it enough to find which key is for which
suitcases?
5. Information Modeling

Propose a library form for a video library. Describe the purpose of every field in
your form. Give examples how people will use this form.
