1. Write each word, spelled correctly and underlined in your notebook.
2. Write the definition for each vocabulary term.
3. Draw and color a picture that represents it.

to least important. Then explain your rationale for the top 2 and bottom 2 choices.
2. Write 1 sentence that summarizes the chapter in 10 words or less. Use at
least 1 vocabulary word.
3. Give a definition or explanation of what each vocabulary term is
not, like an antonym.
4.Word Sort:
Sort the vocabulary words into various categories (ex: parts of
speech, branches of government). Write 1 or 2 sentences to explain.
5. Write a story including all of your words. Make sure you underline the words. The story
should show that you understand the meaning of the words.
6. Write
each word and circle the vowels, then
underline the consonants.
7. Use each word in a sentence. Make sure you underline the words.
8. Write the vocab word in English, and then write it in another language. (Use
technology for help.)
9. Make exciting Newspaper Headlines with your words. (Underline the words.)
10. Provide non-examples. Similar to using antonyms, provide non-examples, which
require you to evaluate a word’s attributes. Explain why it is not an example.
11. List-Group-Label: This is a form of structured brainstorming designed to help students identify
what they know about a concept and the words related to the concept while provoking a degree of analysis
and critical thinking. These are the directions:




Think of all the words related to ______. (a key "big idea" in the text)
Group the words listed by some shared characteristics or commonalties.
Decide on a label for each group.
Try to add words to the categories on the organized lists.
12. Write the definition in your own words to show that you understand the meaning.
13. Write the word & translate it into numbers from the telephone (text message).
