Spelling Homework Activities Spelling City: Go to www.spellingcity.com. Click on “Find a list” and type in my name (Jennifer Fontenot.) Then find the unit list for this week. Spend approximately ten minutes practicing the weekly words using any of the games listed on the site. In your spelling notebook, write the games you practiced and have your parent initial next to it. ABC: Write the spelling words in alphabetical order. ZYX: Write the spelling words in backwards alphabetical order. Antonyms: Choose ten of the spelling words. Write each word and an antonym for it. Synonyms: Choose ten of the spelling words. Write each word and a synonym for it. Picture Perfect: Illustrate ten of the spelling words. Label each picture. 3X: Write each spelling word three times. Sentences: Choose ten of the spelling words. Write a sentence with each word. Rhyme & Reason: Choose ten of the spelling words. Write a word that rhymes with each. Little Words: Choose ten of the spelling words. Find two little words inside the spelling word. You may rearrange the letters, but you can not add letters. (Ex. already – read, deal) Scrambled Up: Choose and scramble ten of the spelling words. Ask someone in your family to unscramble the words. Word Pyramids: Choose ten of the spelling words. Write each word in a pyramid. (Ex. The spelling word is OWL: O OW OWL. Create a Puzzle: Go to http://puzzlemaker.school.discovery.com. Create a crossword puzzle or word search using ten of the spelling words. Print the puzzle and then solve it yourself or have someone in your family solve it.
