Bacteria (GREEN)
II: Wanted Poster
Students will use Chapter 6, Section 3 to create a "WANTED" (think Wild West or police
search) poster for bacteria. Students may make a "WANTED" poster representing either
unlawful, harmful bacteria, or desirable, helpful bacteria.
Color picture/graphic of the cell (may be hand drawn or computer generated; may include
facial features, clothes, props, ect.)
Genus and Species name (may be real or fictitious name, use correct punctuation)
Explanation for why the bacteria is wanted (Harmful ex: strep throat, vomiting, food
poisoning, spoiling food OR Helpful ex: food digestion, cheese, yogurt, medication)
Description of physical characteristics (ex: spherical, rodlike, or spiral shape, color, etc).
Where you would find the bacteria (Last seen.....ex: in the intestines, cheese factory,
hiding in a pond, the bottom of your shoe)
Create a taxonomic key for the bacteria
IV: Answer the questions
What is a virus?
What is the shape and size of virus?
What is the structure of virus?
Why are antibiotics not used to treat viral infections?

III: Wanted Poster
Students will use Chapter 6, Section 3 to create a "WANTED" (think Wild West or police
search) poster for bacteria. Students may make a "WANTED" poster representing
unlawful or harmful bacteria. Students may use their text book or Internet to research a
type of bacteria.
Include:
Picture of the bacteria:
Genus and Species name (may be real or fictitious name, use correct punctuation)
Explain why is the bacteria is wanted (Harmful ex: strep throat, vomiting, food
poisoning, spoiling food)

IV: Answer the questions
What is a virus?
What is the shape and size of virus?
What is the structure of virus?
Protist/ Fungi (GREEN)
II: Create an imaginary protist from the planet Volvox. Describe the main
characteristics of the imaginary protists. Describe how the imaginary protist can be
helpful and harmful to humans. Create a dichotomous key for the protist.
IV: Make a brochure creating the importance of the fungi
Page one of your brochure is your title page and it should include this information:
the name of your fungi
your name
a drawing without labels,
Page two of your brochure should contain information that explains as many of the
following items as possible:
Define fungi, cell structure, how it reproduces, how it gets food and classification
Page 3 should contain any info you can find about:
 the importance of this group of organisms to humans
 the importance of this group of organisms to other things in our world
Page 4 should contain a detailed drawing, either by a computer or by hand, that shows the
important structures of your type of living thing. For example: a drawing of a mushroom
that contains the major parts.
Protist/ Fungi (YELLOW)
II: Create a concept map
Write characteristics of Protist
3 column notes on 3 types of protist
Examples of the 3 kinds of protozoans.
Write characteristics of each of the example.
III: Make a brochure creating the importance of the fungi
(Details on the top: Protist :Green)
