NAME: Spelling Homework Menu Directions: Choose a different activity each night, Monday through Thursday, for your spelling homework. Make sure your words are spelled correctly and take the time to sound out each one. On Friday you will turn in the menu along with the activities – written on the back or attached to your MENU. Make sure your name is on all of your activities. Spelling Homework Choices 1. ABC Order 2. Word Parts Write all of your spelling Write your words. Then words in alphabetical use a colored pencil to (ABC) order. divide the words into syllables. 5. Picture words Draw a picture and hide your spelling words in the picture. 6. Shape Words s sp spe spel spell spelli spellin spelling 3. Write each word 5 times each. Say the word as you spell it. 4. Silly Sentences 7.”Ransom” Words 8. Rainbow Words “Write” your words by cutting letters out of a newspaper or magazine and gluing the letters on a piece of paper to spell your words. Write your spelling words with colored pencils. Make each letter a different color. Write 3 or more sentences that use all your spelling words. (or make them boat shaped, wagon shaped, smiley face, etc.) 9. Scrambled Words 10. Vowel Spotlight 11. This counts for two day’s work. 14. Picture & a Story 15. Comic Strip Make a comic strip that uses at least 5 of your spelling words. 13. Flash Cards Make and practice with flash cards. Put the word on one side and definition on the other. (Counts as two day’s work if you use these to practice the 2nd day; try clues to help you remember the word, like a pictures or written in a sentence.) Draw a picture defining each word.
