Directions: With a partner or working individually, choose a topic that relates to the culture, history, or
customs in Afghanistan that relate to The Kite Runner. Here is a list of topic to choose from.

Components of Powerpoint and Oral Presentation
Part 1: Research your topic: Gather several sources that you will use and CITE MLA style in your
Works Cited list at the end of your powerpoint. You may use online sources and/or book sources.
Part 2: Powerpoint Presentation: Your powerpoint will consist of the following:
a. 5 informational slides with bulleted points, not full sentences. Be prepared to elaborate on
your bulleted points. You may use notes/index cards to assist you as you present your
findings.
b. A minimum of THREE pictures/images that go along with your topic, either on your
informational slides, or as separate slides.
c. A video found on Youtube that demonstrates a concept or point about your topic. (No
longer than five min.)
d. Quotes from the novel slide- Find TWO quotes that demonstrate the main idea of your
topic as seen in the plot of The Kite Runner. For each quote, make sure to cite it properly- Ex:
(Hosseini 100). Be prepared to discuss the significance of your quotes briefly.
e. Participation and Preparedness- each partner should be prepared to speak during the
presentation, so make sure you decide who will say what during the presentation. Both
partners must contribute to the project equally.
f. Neatness/Organization- the powerpoint should be arranged in an organized manner with
titles on each slide that correspond with the content. Include a cover page to begin and for
each slide thereafter, make sure that font is appropriately sized (32 pt. font minimum) with
colors/backgrounds that are easy to read.
Part 3: Works Cited list- Include all of the sources used in your project, including the hyperlink to
any videos you might have found. Use Easybib.com for assistance in formatting your citations or consult
MLA website for proper formatting.
