This is your spelling contract for the week. It is your choice which three activities you complete.
Make sure you spell ALL words correctly for each activity.
Each assignment is worth 10 points each.
Total contract points = 30 points
All contract work will be due Friday morning.

ABC Order: Write your words 3 times each in ABC order.

Rainbow Words: Write your spelling words in pencil and then use two different
colored crayons or colored pencils to trace over the words.
Pyramid Write: Write the first letter of your word, and then on the next line,
write the first two letters of your word. Continue doing this until you have the
word completely spelled.

Assignment Choices

Backwards Write: First write your spelling words forwards, then write it
backwards.
Color Writing: Write each of your spelling words in different colors and
put them together to make one long word.
Type your words: Open a word document on the computer. Make each
word a different font. Print it out, or email it to me! [email protected]
Word Search: Make a list of your spelling words on a word search
program and print it out. www.puzzlemaker.com
Glue it! Cut out letters for each of your spelling words from newspapers
or magazines. Glue them on to a piece of paper.

Assignment Choices (please check the activities you choose)
Alliterative Phrases or Sentences: Choose 5 of your spelling words and write five
alliterative phrases or sentences.
Alliteration uses the same initial letter. You may include a word or two that do not
begin with the same initial letter. Be sure to underline your spelling words.
Examples: Deep down in the dungeon tiny town sheep shout.
Word Cousins: Choose 5 spelling words and put them into a word bank at the top of
your paper. Write 3 clues relating to each word and leave a blank after the clues. The
words can be related by similar categories.
Examples:
Coat, raincoat, hat,____________ (answer: jacket)
Toast, peanut butter, cream cheese, __________(answer: jelly)
Telephone Words:
Choose 10 spelling words. Translate your words into numbers using the telephone
keypad and add up the value of each letter. Number your paper and write the word
and its value.
Example: block= b (2) + l (5) + o (6) + c (2) + k (5) = 20
Scrabble Tiles: Pick 10 spelling words and use your Scrabble tiles to build the words.
Add up the value of the letters in each of your spelling words.
Example: house h (4) + o (1) + u (1) + s (1) + e (1) = 8

This is your spelling contract for the week. It is your choice which three activities you complete.
Make sure you spell ALL words correctly for each activity.

Words-in-Words: Choose 5 of your spelling words and then write at
least two words that you can make from each. You may scramble the
letters to create new words.
Example: shower show owe row
Synonyms: Write your spelling words once. Then, next to each one write
a synonym.
A synonym is a word that means the same. Use a dictionary or thesaurus
for help, if needed.
Example: large big
Money Code: Write your spelling words once. Using the money chart,
add up the cost of each of your words. Number your paper and write the
words and their values.
Example: thing t (5¢) + h (10¢) + i (15¢) + n (5¢) + g (5¢) = 40¢
Consonants and Vowels: Write your spelling words; use a blue colored
pencil for consonants and a red colored pencil for vowels.
