Vocabulary

Base: # raised to a power in an exponential expression.

Compound growth: is the same as exponential growth, used when
talking about monetary value of an investment. (Interest)

Decay factor: The decay factor is the base in an exponential decay
equation. (The Constant factor in each value)

Exponent: a number that indicates how many times another numbers
(the base) is to be used as a factor. Exponents are written as raised
numbers to the right of the base. (XLooks Like This!)

Exponential decay: a pattern of decrease in which each value is
found by multiplying the previous value by a constant factor greater than 0
and less then 1.

Exponential Form: A quantity written as a number raised to a power.

Exponential Growth: A pattern of increase in which each value is
found by multiplying the previous value by a greater than 1.

Growth Factor: the growth factor is the base in an exponential growth
equation.

Standard form: the most common way to express a quantity.
THINGS TO KNOW
1. You should know how to count rubies exponentially.
1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048
2.You should know how to measure the growth of mold

4.You should know where tables come from, where graphs come from. Etc
Graphs come from tables
Tables come from data
Data comes from equations
5.You should know how to find Circumference area and diameter of a Pizza
.
5’
Area for a circle = ∏Rx
Circumference of a circle = 2∏d
Diameter = R*2
Diameter = 5*2=10
Circumference = 2*3.14*10= 62.8
Area = 3.14*52= 78.5
6. You should know how to calculate the growth factor.
Growth factor =sgx
Examples

Base- 35 reads 3 to the fifth power, 3 is the base and 5 is the
exponent
 Base- 23 reads as 2 to the three power, 2 is the base and 3 is the
exponent
 Base- - 33 reads as 3 to the three power, 3 is the base and 3 is the
exponent

Compound growth-$2500+(6% of $2500)
=$2500 + 0.06 (2500)
=$2500+$150
=$2650

Compound growth-$2650+0.06(2650)
=$2650+$159
=$2809
 Decay growth- A=64(0.5n)
A=Area, 64 is the number of people per day, 0.5 is the price per ride, and
n= the ride per person
 Exponent- 35 reads 3 to the fifth power, 3 is the base and 5 is the
exponent
 Exponent- 23 reads as 2 to the three power, 2 is the base and 3 is
the exponent
 Exponent- 45 reads 4 to the fifth power, 4 is the base and 5 is the
exponent
