Interest Approach/Anticipatory Set
Prepare to play a review game called “Around the room” question and answer session. Issue the
student version entitled “Mitosis and Meiosis review sheet” from Lesson Plan 1 (LP 1) as your
source of questions. The teacher key will help the teacher correctly answer the questions. This
lesson takes two days.
Teaching Plan and Strategy / Presentation of New Material
If you have a SmartBoard™ or Promethean™ board, project the diagrams on the review
and have the students come to the board and draw, label and explain the phases for the
review.
Activity/Application/ Student Engagement /Laboratory
Assign the student exam entitled “Mitosis and Meiosis” This will be issued the second
day.
Evaluation / Summary
After the review, play paper snowballs. Have the students write a question on a piece of paper.
Crunch it up and have a “snowball fight.” When time is called, students pick up the paper, open
and share with a partner, Repeat, if time allows.
