Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery To Honor Kosair Charities in a Fundraising Event CMKI Hands-On Award Dinner to Honor Kosair Charities Louisville, KY (April, 2, 2015) – The Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery (CMKI) will honor Kosair Charities at the 2nd CMKI Hands-On Award Dinner. The event will take place Thursday, April 2, 2015 starting at 6 p.m. at the Galt House Hotel & Suites, Archibald Cochran Room, located at 140 N. Fourth Street, Louisville, Kentucky. “We are very pleased to honor Kosair Charities for their mission to protect the health and well-being of children in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. There has been a long standing collaboration between the Institute and Kosair Charities, and they have done so much to help us achieve our mission of excellence in education and research in the field of hand surgery” says Dr. Christina Kaufman, Executive Director of CMKI. “In addition our surgeons wanted to express their gratitude to Kosair Charities for their unparalleled community service. Over the years, many financially struggling families have had their children’s hand problems corrected because of support through the Kleinert Kutz practice and Kosair Charities.” Dr. Kleinert and Dr. Kutz received the coveted Roger Fox award for their work with children from Kosair Charities in 2005. In 2012 and 2013, Kosair Charities generously awarded CMKI a combined total of over $600,000 in direct and matching grants to perform research and educate the hand surgeons of the future About the Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery The CMKI is a world-renowned nonprofit education and research organization. The Institute was founded by Doctors Kleinert and Kutz in 1980, and represents the largest accredited hand surgery fellowship training program in the U.S. The CMKI, in cooperative effort with the University of Louisville School of Medicine and the physicians of Kleinert Kutz Hand Care Center, have trained over 1300 surgeons from 61 countries around the world. The physicians are fully trained plastic, orthopedic, or general surgeons who come to Louisville for additional training in hand and microsurgery. Many research projects refining surgical techniques, testing new devices, and pushing the frontiers of basic and clinical science in the field of hand surgery are currently underway.
