GUPTA
EMPIRE
Gupta is the name of a ruling family in India.
The Gupta encouraged peace, prosperity and
trade with foreign lands.
This is considered the
Golden Age of Hindu Culture
Indus River
where there were many advances in math, science
and the arts. Specific accomplishments of the Gupta
Empire include:
1. use of Sanskrit
language
2. developed the
use of zero
3. development of
decimal system
4. built elaborate temples
The main religion of the Gupta Empire is Hinduism and they practiced the CASTE SYSTEM.

Mandate of Heaven: belief that the Emperor was given the right to rule from the gods (similar to European
Divine Right)
