Sample Parent Letter I
Fall
Dear Parents,
During the week of ____________________ you and your child will have
the opportunity to take part in a Student-Involved Conference. The
conference will last for about 20 minutes and provide an opportunity for you
to hear from your own child about their learning.
The purpose of student involved conferences is to have your child share
their school day and learning directly with you. This will allow them to
improve their communication, to learn how to organize and plan, and to
increase their leadership skills.
It is important for us to work as a team. You will have an opportunity to ask
questions, express your ideas, and help make plans to support your child’s
learning.
Attached you will find a form that allows you to choose times and days you
would prefer to hold your conference. Please return this form by
________. We will confirm your actual time early next week.
Your child and I are looking forward to sharing the wonderful learning
opportunities that are happening in our classroom.
Sincerely,
Sample Parent Letter II
Fall
Dear Parent(s),
This year, parent conferences will include your child as an active participant.
This format is often referred to as student-involved conferencing. Through
this type of conference, it is my objective to communicate more effectively
about your child’s learning, areas of strength and goals for future
improvements.
During a Student-Involved Conference, everyone has a role to play. Your
child will demonstrate accomplishments by sharing and discussing his/her
collection of work with you. He/she will also help set new learning goals. You
will find out about your child’s learning, have the opportunity to ask
questions and express your ideas, and help make plans to support your child’s
learning at home. I will facilitate the conference by clarifying, elaborating
and responding to specific questions and concerns. I am there to support
both you and your child. If you have any issues you wish to discuss privately
following the conference, a sign-up sheet will be available.
I am looking forward to meeting with you soon. To help with scheduling,
please complete and return the attached scheduling sheet by
______________.
Sincerely,
Dear Parents:
The education of your child is one of the most important goals you have in life. We feel
that your interest and desire for knowledge concerning your child can be accomplished
better by meeting personally with your son or daughter's teacher and discussing
academic, social and physical accomplishments or difficulties. In order to meet the goal
for communication, our teachers wish to have a Student Involved Conference with all
parents in their room for the first and second grading periods. The number of parents in
each room necessitates a rather tight scheduling situation. If you cannot keep the
appointment, please contact the Elementary School office at 440- 4081.
More information will be sent home soon to help you prepare for a successful exchange
of information with your child's teachers.
Sincerely,
Mike Keizer, Principal
Fullerton IV, Elementary School
