 SUNY Canton
Marquee Properties for Start-Up NY
Canton is situated in the heart of the North Country, a seven-county region on the
Canadian border that includes parts of the Adirondack State Park. As the county seat in St.
Lawrence County, Canton hosts village, town, and county offices as well as two colleges:
SUNY Canton and St. Lawrence University.
Just twenty miles from a major bridge crossing and St. Lawrence Seaway port in
Ogdensburg, Canton is a perfect home to businesses of all types and sizes seeking a
strong, well-trained workforce, a tight-knit community with good schools, and ready access
to domestic and international shipping and transportation.
SUNY Canton has several properties it can offer to businesses wishing to take advantage of
the Start-Up NY program. On campus, we can offer office spaces to smaller start-ups – up
to 10,000 square feet – as well as undeveloped land in central locations that can be
developed to suit.
Off campus, SUNY Canton has partnered with the St. Lawrence County Industrial
Development Agency (IDA) to provide buildings that are ready to suit various levels of
manufacturing activities. From 6,000 to 40,000 square feet, these buildings are vacant and
in excellent condition.
The descriptions below include details about the buildings/sites and photos of the
properties.
Wicks Hall
Wicks Hall currently houses classrooms and office space. With adjacent parking, a central
location, and up to 10,000 square feet of office space available for use by June 2014, these
offices are well finished and ready for business. Currently, the space is divided into six
separate offices of various sizes.
All six offices are located on one side of the
hallway; they can be utilized as single office
spaces or suites, depending on the
preferences of our business partners.
These are typical office spaces. Most offices have space for two sizeable workstations,
shelving, file cabinets, printers/copiers, and a seating area. They are nicely finished and are
phone- and Internet-ready. One of the offices is smaller, suitable for one workstation and
visitor seating.
