We’re there when you need us.
If you or a loved one is diagnosed with cancer, you may have many questions and
be faced with making some difficult and important decisions.
You may have questions such as:
Ñ What will it mean to me to have cancer?
Ñ What treatments will I need, and what side effects might I experience?
Ñ How can I maintain my health and well being during treatment and
recovery from cancer?
Ñ What resources are available to help me?
Among the most important decisions you can make are what treatment
to get and where to get it.
You will want to know:
Ñ Where should I go for the treatment of my particular type of cancer?
Ñ Can I get the care I need in my local community?
Ñ Should I get a second opinion before I make a decision about
my treatment?
Cancer Resource Services (CRS) is pleased to be part of your health care
coverage. Through this program, experienced cancer nurses can provide
information and help answer your questions. They can also arrange for your
access to cancer treatment services at a cancer center within the CRS
Centers of Excellence network.
Potential benefits resulting
from treatment at a CRS
Centers of Excellence network
facility include the following:
• A higher rate of accurate
diagnoses and
fewer complications
• Care that is planned,
coordinated and provided by a
team of experts who specialize
in the various types of cancer,
including rare cancers
• Appropriate therapy (neither
too much nor too little)
• Higher survival rates,
shorter length of stay and
decreased costs
The Cancer Resource Services Centers
of Excellence Network
Why is it called a Centers of Excellence network?
Because the cancer centers within the network provide:
Ñ Comprehensive, highly specialized teams of experts
with extensive experience in cancer diagnosis and
treatment, including rare cancers.
Ñ Second opinion services if you are unsure about
your diagnosis or what treatment is right for you.
Ñ Experience in performing a large number of
cancer surgeries and other complex treatments
and procedures.
Ñ Access to newer treatments that may be the best
option for you.
