Introducing UnitedHealthcare SherpaSM When a person is diagnosed with cancer, they face many new challenges. Cancer patients often need help to find the best path through a health care system that is complicated and can be hard to understand. Fortunately a new program called UnitedHealthcare SherpaSM is available to support insurance related questions and concerns for patients undergoing cancer treatment. Sherpa offers a designated team of specially trained UnitedHealthcare customer service agents to help cancer patients navigate their way through insurance questions and claims, providing support and compassion along the way. Sherpa provides detailed assistance with the administrative burden of healthcare, so patients can concentrate on improved health. This program has been refined and tested in the pilot phase to help simplify the health care system and make it work better for the patient. UnitedHealthcare understands that cancer patients may feel overwhelmed by the uncertainty that often comes with a cancer diagnosis and treatment. The Sherpa program is available to cancer patients early in the treatment cycle and supports them throughout their entire treatment by providing: A designated team of customer service agents to resolve their questions or issues Appointment scheduling assistance to better fit the patient’s schedule Three-way calling with experts (clinical, claim, etc.) as needed The goal of the Sherpa program is to reduce the time and effort spent on insurance and paperwork so patients can remain focused on what is most important: regaining their health.
