Textbook:
“Probability and Statistics for Computer Scientists,” Michael Baron, Chapman Hall/CRC Press.
Course Description: Probability and Statistics for Computer Scientists is a course designed to explore and understand probability, conditioning,
independence, expectation and variance for both discrete and continuous probability distributions. Also, Stochastic
processes and queuing systems will be covered as time permits. Computer Science examples will be used. The last portion of
of the course will be dedicated to writing computer simulations in MATLAB in Votey 246. Pre-requisite: MATH 20 or MATH 22.
Technology:
A TI 83/84 calculator is required and needs to be with you at each class.
Grading: Your grade for the course will be based on:


3 Exams (15% each)
