US Patent 8,772,339 B2. Awarded July 8, 2014. Ethyl gallate and related compounds as a treatment for sepsis and
septic shock. The use ofe thyl gallate, methyl gallate or 3,4 dihydroxybenzoate may also prophylactically treat septic
shock via administration to subject before the development of a fall in blood pressure.
Canadian Patent 2,428,744 awarded June 25, 2013. Inhibition of lysozyme in treating sepsis-induced myocardial
dysfunction . Methods and compositions for treating myocardial dysfunction are described. The methods of the
invention involve administering an agent that can inhibit lysozyme to an animal in need thereof. Preferred lysozyme
inhibitions include chitobiose and chitotriose.
US Patent 7402575 (US patent 7,402,575B2 and CA2428744AA). “Methods of treating inflammation”, which
teaches methods and compositions methods and compositions for treating myocardial dysfunction or inflammation
involving administering an agent that can inhibit lysozyme to an animal or human in need thereof, preferred
inhibitors include TAC and chitobiose. This patent covers the basic technology, a method of developing new
compounds.
