University of Hawai‘i Manoa International Pacific Research Center (IPRC) The 2013 IPRC Public Lecture in Climate Science “Dealing With Climate Change: Are We Flying Blind?” William Chameides Monday, March 11, 7:30 pm Art Building Auditorium Dr. Bill Chameides, Dean of Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment since 2007, has combined more than 30 years in academia as a professor, researcher, teacher, and mentor with a 3-year stint in the nonprofit world as the chief scientist of the Environmental Defense Fund. He was the vice chair of America’s Climate Choices, a multidisciplinary study by the National Academies launched in November 2008 at the request of Congress to provide policy-relevant advice to guide the nation’s response to climate change. Dr. Chameides is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, a fellow of the American Geophysical Union, and a recipient of the American Geophysical Union’s MacElwane Award.
