Include Type 1 SurgePOD Heavy Duty and Pro Offerings
NEMA 4X Style SPDs provide loadside and lineside protection for any application
ST. LOUIS, MO, February 1, 2013 – Cooper Bussmann, the industry leader in critical circuit protection,
power management and electrical safety, has expanded its line of surge protective devices (SPDs) to
include new SurgePOD™ Heavy Duty and Pro models. These Type 1 UL 1449 3rd Edition Listed SPDs
are ideal for loadside and lineside protection and feature patented Cooper Bussmann SurgePOD™
module technology.
Ideal for a wide range of applications, both the SurgePOD Heavy Duty and SurgePOD Pro SPDs are
Type 1 UL 1449 3rd Edition Listed for easy specification and installation on the loadside or lineside of the
service entrance overcurrent protective device. They feature a compact, UV resistant NEMA 4X
enclosure that is easy to install and versatile for indoor or outdoor applications. Their voltage specific
models allow users to precisely match and protect electrical systems and equipment better than some
“one size fits all” versions on the market today.
Designed for critical commercial and industrial applications, the SurgePOD Heavy Duty utilizes patented
Cooper Bussmann SurgePOD™ module MOV thermal disconnect technology that eliminates the need
for any additional overcurrent protection. It features a nominal system voltage range of 120 to 600Vac,
with surge rating of 50kA and a SCCR rating of 200kA along with comprehensive five-year warranty.
SurgePOD Pro offers exceptional value by providing optimal surge protection in residential and light
commercial applications. It includes thermal disconnect technology that also eliminates the need for
additional fusing and includes a nominal system voltage range of 120 to 480Vac, with surge rating of
40kA and a 200kA SCCR, and a two-year warranty.
