Using the Virtual Private Network (VPN) on an iPad 2 Step One Select the Utilities Application from the home screen. Select General settings from the Utilities Menu Listing. 2 L. Select Add VPN Configuration. 4 L. Jeffrey Fitterman, Ed.S., ATP 5/25/2017 Step Four Select the PPTP (Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol) tab at the top of the window. Enter a unique name for the Description. 5 L. Jeffrey Fitterman, Ed.S., ATP 5/25/2017 Step Four (continued) Enter the VPN Server. Important: Use the IP address. Enter your Account User Name. 6 L. Jeffrey Fitterman, Ed.S., ATP 5/25/2017 Step Four (continued) Enter the URL for your district. Leave the defaults for all other options. Select Save. 7 L. Jeffrey Fitterman, Ed.S., ATP 5/25/2017 Step Four (continued) You are now ready to connect to your district’s VPN. Choose a Configuration (notice the check) and press the OFF toggle and it will change to ON. 8 L. Jeffrey Fitterman, Ed.S., ATP 5/25/2017 Step Four (continued) You may be prompted to enter your password. This depends on whether you entered your password when configuring the connection. Since the VPN is accessed from outside the district firewall, you will need special permission. Check with your district’s MIS department. 9 L. Jeffrey Fitterman, Ed.S., ATP 5/25/2017 Step Five You will need to obtain a Remote Desktop Connection App. You can get the App for your iPad 2 from Apple’s App store. I have selected the paid version of RDP ($5.99). There is also a free lite version of RDP. Download and Install the App. 10 L. Jeffrey Fitterman, Ed.S., ATP 5/25/2017 Step Six Run the RDP App and select Configure. Enter the static IP address of the computer/server you wish to access (Do not use the name). 11 L. Jeffrey Fitterman, Ed.S., ATP 5/25/2017 Step Six (continued) Enter your user name, password (optional), and a name for the connection. Leave the defaults for all other options. 12 L. Jeffrey Fitterman, Ed.S., ATP 5/25/2017 Step Six (continued) Now select the Connect tasks option and connection at the right. The RDP App will attempt to connect to the computer/server. 13 L.
