Integrated Device Networks ® for ControlLogix Systems “Practical Applications for HART I/O” Spectrum Controls, Inc. • • • • Founded in 1983 Developer of I/O, HMI and Embedded Products Brand Label and Spectrum Label Products Rockwell Automation Global Encompass Partner • Located near Seattle, Washington, USA Benefits of an Integrated Device Network Commissioning Efficient Documentation Simplified Device Configuration Operation Real-time diagnostics Regulatory Compliance (FDA, EPA…) Maintenance Automated Predictive Maintenance Audit Trail / Self Documentation Definition of Process Networks Enterprise Networks - protocols that focus on IT applications (LAN, WAN, Ethernet…) Control Networks - protocols typically used to connect controllers and I/O systems (ControlNet, Ethernet/IP, FF-HSE, Modbus, Profibus-DP) Device Networks - protocols originally focused on process instrumentation (Foundation Fieldbus-H1, HART, Profibus-PA) Sensor Networks - protocols initially designed to support discrete I/O (AS-I, CAN, DeviceNet, Interbus, LON) Protocols The network type does not necessarily define the protocol. Separation of protocols and network type is often unclear, many cross into several classifications. Integrated Architecture Engineering Workstation Enterprise Client Applications RSLogix / Logix RSView / RSMACC Asset Management Visualization AMS / DMS/ FieldCare RSView or PanelView Change Management & Maintenance ENet ControlLogix Analog+HART I/O ENet or CNet HART Field Devices Hand Calibrator Analog and HART Data HART Primer UNIQUE COMMUNICATION SOLUTION The HART Protocol supports two way digital communications and is designed to complement traditional 4-20mA analog signal. HART - Highway Addressable Remote Transducer Pre-defined Commands • Common Practice • General Purpose • Device Specific Large Installation Base Analog Signal Worldwide Support Existing acquisition methods • Handheld Communicator Limited to point-to-point connection • Clip-on Serial Modem Requires you to be in the field! Existing acquisition methods • HART Multiplexer Requires additional hardware! Requires additional wiring! Evolution of HART Technology 1756sc-IF8H - Analog Input with HART 1756sc-OF8H - Analog Output with HART • 8 Channels of Analog Input or Output • Each channel selectable… Voltage Current Current + HART • • • • Versatile Communication Options Compatible with PLX and CLX HART compliant (Point to Point) Standard wiring / terminal blocks • Connectivity Software I/O Block Diagram Proven analog technology 16 to 21 bit resolution HART modem services are independent HART and Analog data on the backplane ControlNet Compliant Communication Hardware Interface Scan-Based Device Information PV,SV,TV,FV Automatic Connection Read Access The HART I/O modules reside within a Logix PLC chassis. The I/Os are fully ControlNet compliant. This means data is accessed via - scan-based communication - unconnected messaging ( processor independent ) Unconnected Message Device Information PV,SV,TV,FV Extended HART Data Vendor Specific Commands Read/Write Access I/O Communications: Scan-based The modules are configured using RSLogix 5000 Scan based data is accessed via your ladder logic using module tags. You have access to: Analog value/control Device Information HART PV, SV, TV, FV HART “Packet” Data Four user defined slot variables You have access to key data… which updates automatically I/O Communications: Scan-based Scan based data is accessed via your ladder logic using module tags. Note that the HART PV, SV, TV, FV are available without the typical command / response dialog. I/O Coms: Unconnected Messaging The module will accept and queue unconnected message requests. These messages may be generated by 1. Message block in your ladder logic 2. Your Application Layer 3. Another ControlNet Node You have access to: ALL DATA Analog value/control HART PV, SV, TV, FV Common Practice Commands Device Specific Commands Client Control and Information Protocol CIP Client Software Enterprise Client Applications ControlLogix w/ HART I/O HART Field Devices There are applications for every aspect of system management and operation.
