Introduction
A Bluetooth Hotspot allows up to 7 users to connect
to an access point for internet access.
Bluetooth can coexist in an area with a WiFi network
however there can be interference since they use
the same 2.4 GHz spectrum to communicate
Anycom has sponsored the Bluetooth Hotspot here
at the Pocket PC Summit. Look for the lounge area
in the Exhibit Hall for a place to sit and use
Bluetooth to access the internet.

Bluetooth Profiles
Bluetooth Profiles are used to explain the
different ways that a Pocket PC can connect
with other devices. There are multiple
profiles however the most common are
Serial, LAN, PAN and Voice
LAN – A replacement for a serial cable. The
Pocket PC uses PPP over the Bluetooth
serial profile to connect to the access point, a
cell phone or a PC. This profile is used to
sync your Pocket PC and PC using Bluetooth.

Bluetooth Profiles
(Continued)
PAN – Personal Area Network – a direct
network connection to an access point
or PC. Offers functionality similar to a
network.
Voice – Used to communicate via Voice
to another Bluetooth device. This is
most commonly used for Bluetooth
headsets.

Demonstration
Basic configuration of an Anycom Bluetooth
Access Point (Hotspot). If you need to use
static IP addresses then you will need a PC
with Ethernet to find the Access Point. Once
found, it is configured via a web interface.
Basic configuration of a Pocket PC 2002
using an iPAQ Pocket PC 3975 and an HP
Jornada 565 with an Anycom Bluetooth
CompactFlash Card.
