Priming Instructions

The Pall Posidyne NEO Filter is an air eliminating filter with a
0.2 µm Posidyne membrane for up to 96 hours use. It is indicated
for the removal of inadvertent particulate debris, microbial
contaminants and their associated endotoxins and entrained air
which may be found in solutions for intravenous, epidural or
subcutaneous administration.

The filter has a needleless ‘Y’ access site which can be used for
delivering lipid emulsions or bolus injections *(for drugs that may
be incompatible with infusion fluid, medications or preparations
that may be contraindicated for administration through the filter,
or if rapid delivery is required).

NOTES
■ Always swab the needleless ‘Y’ access site prior to use
■ Maximum recommended working pressure is 1500 mmHg
(approx. 30 psi, 2 bar)
■ It is recommended that the filter is changed at 96 hours
■ When a pump is used in the primary line, position filter
downstream of pump.

PRIME POSITION
■ Prime extension/administration
set to its outlet
■ Close extension/administration
set clamp if appropriate
ATTACHING THE FILTER

■ Remove protective cap (A) from
filter inlet (B)
■ Connect extension/
administration set to inlet (B)
using a twisting motion (do not
over-tighten)
■ Hold filter with outlet (E)
uppermost and the plain side
visible
■ Do not remove the protective
cap (F) from filter outlet

PRIMING THE FILTER
■ Open extension/administration
set clamp and prime filter to
outlet (E)
■ Close extension/administration
set clamp
■ Verify that no air bubbles are
present on ribbed (patient) side
of housing and tubing
extension, include needleless
access Y-site (D)
■ Air bubbles can be removed by
slightly opening the extension/
administration set clamp to reestablish flow and gently
tapping the filter housing
■ Close extension/administration
set clamp and filter clamp (C)
CONNECTION
■ Remove protective cap (F) and
connect to patient
■ Regulate flow in usual manner.

USE OF Y-SITE FOR
LIPID DELIVERY
■ Swab needleless access Y-site
(D) with preferred disinfectant
■ Connect primed lipid filter to
needleless access Y-site (D)
with a twisting motion (do not
over-tighten)
■ Deliver lipids at flow rate
prescribed
