Intern @ National Instruments R&D Worked on converting DSP algorithms specified using LabView into VHDL for rapid prototyping and testing using FPGA RIO hardware. Work slated to be part of 2014 LabView Release. Application of Numerical Approximation Techniques for Face Detection & Recognition (Proceedings of National Conference on Wireless Communication, Signal Processing, Embedded Systems‐WISE 2013) Developed an algorithm to reduce computational complexity of Face detection by Eigen vector decomposition using Jacobi’s method for non‐symmetric matrices. Simulated such algorithm using MATLAB and tested for constraints posed by embedded systems. Awarded Best Paper Award at the conference. Swarm Robotics for Intelligent Warehousing : An Application (http://www.ijret.org/Volumes/V02/I10/IJRET_110210080.pdf) Proposed an ideal model for implementing efficient warehousing using swarm intelligence for automated retrieval robots. Has several innovative features such as Mixed Control Architecture, Dynamic Task reallocation. Published in International Journal of Research in Engineering and Technology (Impact Factor – 1.962) Projects Reactive Real Time Stabilized Platform Developing a stabilized platform with an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) on board to determine external forces acting on it. Correction is done using Servo Motor actuators. Implementing a control system in an embedded system and using various techniques such as Kalman Filtering. Wireless Sensor Networks for Home Automation Currently working on developing a low power, low cost sensor network for home automation using Wi‐Fi communication protocol. Developing a Star network with inbuilt repeaters in the network. Interfacing of Gas, Ambient Light, Humidity, Temperature and Pressure sensor to be achieved. Glass Break Detector Glass Break detection relies inherently on DSP techniques involving processing the sound of glass break for detection and sensing for certain high frequency components. Over the course of this project I leveraged the low power modes of MSP430, learnt power management, using Samplers, amplifiers & ADCs within an embedded system and using software techniques such as 4 – point averaging, optimized signal processing on MSP430. Automobile Electronic Data Recorder Developed a Black box for a car using ARM7 core. Interfaced GPS module, Accelerometer, Proximity Sensors, CMOS Camera, Hall effect sensors to poll data at 20 second intervals and store on an onboard SD card. Future work includes addition of telemetry for remote data retrieval and creating drivers for interface with PC. Recognized as part of National Instrument’s NIyantra Autonomous Embedded Design Contest 2013. Proximity Sensing Obstacle Avoiding Robot Bot sensed the presence of an obstacle using a proximity sensor. This data was then passed onto an Arduino Core which in turn controlled the servo motors and swerved the bot out of the way. Implemented several versions to improve reaction time of bot.
