Today is Thursday, September 27, 2012 Homework: - Read Chapter 3, Lesson 2 for tomorrow -Chapter 3 Packet (Due SATURDAY) -Complete heart diagram Warm-Up: Copy the following definitions into your notebook….. RBC = Red Blood Cell, transports oxygen, nutrients, carbon dioxide, and other waste. WBC = White Blood Cell, fights germs (literally eats them). Platelets = Parts of cells that clot the blood, cause scabs, help in the healing process. Plasma = The liquid part of your blood that carries the blood cells (REMEMBER, MOST OF YOUR BODY IS WATER). Right Ventricle Collects blood from Right Atrium and pumps it to the Pulmonary Artery, which leads to the lungs. In the lungs carbon dioxide will be removed and oxygen will be added. Only artery in your body that contains carbon dioxide rich blood. Left Atrium Collects oxygen rich blood from the Pulmonary Veins. Pulmonary Veins are the ONLY veins in your body that carry oxygen-rich blood!!!!!! Left Ventricle Collects oxygen rich blood from the Left Atrium and pumps it into the Aorta, your body’s largest artery, which will carry it out into your body. The Goal….AGAIN!!!! • SWBAT Demonstrate an understanding of the structure and function of the circulatory system by taking notes and discussing this system.
