The Skeletal System Introduction I will explain the main functions of the skeletal system. As well as how it works with other body systems. The Main Function of the Skeletal System The main function of the skeleton is support for the body, and movement. The skeletal system works with the muscular system to allow movement and flexibility. Diseases In the skeletal system you can get diseases such as: Bone Cancer Paget’s Disease Osteoporosis and Arthritis The Muscular System The Function of The Muscular System The purpose of the muscular system is to allow movement and flexibility of the body. The muscular system works with the skeletal system so that the body will have structure, and move properly. Diseases In the muscular system you can have diseases such as: Myopathy Fibromyalgia Compartment Syndromes Tendinitis Myasthenia Ataxia McArdle Syndrome Polymyositis The Respiratory System The Purpose of the Respiratory System The purpose of the respiratory system is to take in oxygen (o2) from the air you breathe and get rid of carbon dioxide (co2) so that your body will stay healthy. The respiratory system works with the circulatory system to distribute blood and oxygen throughout the body. The Circulatory System The Purpose of the Circulatory System The purpose of the circulatory system is to distribute blood throughout the body. The circulatory system works with the respiratory system to spread oxygen and blood through the body. Diseases There are diseases found in the circulatory system, such as: Arteriosclerosis Atherosclerosis Hypertension/high blood pressure Rheumatic Fever The Digestive System The Main Function of the Digestive System The function of the digestive system is to allow us to eat and get rid of waste. It works with the circulatory system to distribute nutrients throughout your body. Diseases You can find diseases in the digestive system, such as: Celiac Disease Irritable Bowel Syndrome Inflammatory Bowel Disease The Nervous System The Main Function of the Nervous System The purpose of the nervous system is to send messages to your brain right away so you know when something happens and what is happening. The nervous system works with the systems of the body to send messages to them to move or do other things. Diseases There are diseases in the nervous system, such as: Bell’s Palsy Cerebal Palsy Myalgic Encephalomyalitis Neuralgia Neuritis Parkinson’s Disease Sciatica Conclusion In conclusion I would say that the way that the body systems were created to work together is amazing. And I will always try to stay healthy and take care of my body. Resources www.kidshealth.org www.Sciencelive.net www.innerbody.com www.ivyroses.com
