CREATIVE PROJECT: Jorge Morel: A Pedagogical Approach Through Repertoire

This study has explored the use of a single composition, Danza Brasilera, as a
pedagogical tool by contemporary guitarist and composer, Jorge Morel. The multitude of
technical refinements required by the music makes this piece an excellent pedagogical resource
and impressive performance piece. The study has briefly detailed Morel’s life and successful
career. It has examined issues for the left hand related to fingerings, barring, shifting, and
physical challenges. It also has observed concerns for the right hand associated with blocked
chords, damping, fingerings, and rasgueado.
