Ability to choose which
molecules can go into and out of
the cell.
What is selectively permeable?
Process by which it maintains the
internal and external environment
of the cell.
What is homeostasis?
Receives chemical signals from
outside the cell.
What are carbohydrates?
Structure of the plasma
membrane.
What is phospholipid bilayer?
What are channel proteins and
carrier proteins?
The movement of substances
from areas of high concentration
to areas of low concentration.
What is diffusion?
Movement of water from areas of
high concentration to low
concentration.
What is osmosis?

What is facilitated diffusion?
Answer 2-4
What is facilitated diffusion with
carrier proteins?
What is dynamic equilibrium?
Movement of molecules from
low to high concentration with
the use of energy.
What is active transport?
Energy source for active
transport.
What is ATP?
Method for transporting large
molecules, such as _______, into
the cell for cellular respiration.
What is Glucose?
Sometimes referred to as a pump
during active transport.
What is a carrier protein?
What is an illustration of active
transport?
Solution in which molecules
inside and outside of the cell are
equal.
What is an isotonic solution?
Solution in which the
concentration of solute is higher
outside of the cell than inside of
the cell.
What is hypertonic?
A solution that has a lower
concentration of solute outside
than inside the cell.
What is hypotonic?
What is a plant cell in a
hypertonic solution?
What is a plant cell in a
hypotonic solution?
Organelle in which glucose is
broken apart to produce ATP.
What is the mitochondria?
Cell that contains chloroplast,
cell wall, and large vacuole.
What is a plant cell?
Structure in the plasma
membrane that keeps the fatty
acid tails from bonding.
