Claim
State your argument
directly.
Example: I am going to convince you that our
school needs healthier lunch options.
Big Names
The use of

or experts to
make your
argument seem
more convincing.

angry, to help
your argument.

Ethos
Building a trust
with your
audience, getting
them to believe
you.
Example: Believe me, I have been a teacher for 10 years, and
know that school lunches are unhealthy.
Kairos
Convince your
audience that this
issue is of high
importance and
priority, and they
have limited time to
act.
Example: This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, you must
act now to make a difference.

to support your
argument.

words that will make you feel strongly
about someone or something.
