What are the steps? • • • • • PreWriting Drafting Revising Editing Publishing Step 1: PreWriting • Find your inspiration! • Determine your most useful form to pre write (lists, mapping, webbing, graphic organizers, etc.) • Choose a topic and plan it out. Step 2: Drafting • Select your writing ideas from your pre writing exercise. • Write, Write, Write! • “Sloppy copy.” Step 3: Revising • ARMS ADD-Sentences and words. REMOVE-Unneeded words/sentences. MOVE-Change a sentence or word placement. SUBSTITUTE-Trade words or sentences for others. • Rereading to make the story better. • Think ARMS! Step 4: Editing • Think CUPS! CAPITALIZATIONnames, places, months, titles, etc. USAGE-match nouns/verbs correctly. PUNCTUATIONperiods, quotes, commas, questions marks. Center title on top line with a line space that follows. Name, class, and date in top right hand corner. Double spaced Neat- no scribbles or overuse of liquid paper. Staple in top left hand corner. Include a copy of rubric for grading.
