Napoleon had trouble when he tried… The Battle of Britain • In the summer of 1940, Hitler began his attack on Great Britain (Operation Sea Lion) • He planned to destroy the Royal Air Force and then land troops on the shores • The German air force, or Luftwaffe, began bombing airfields and aircraft factories Hey Hitler. We keep on bombing their airfields, but the British won’t surrender. Then we bomb the civilians until they are so tired of war that they demand their government surrender.
