BY LEAH JOHNSTON.
 Adolf Hitler was an Austrian born man
that became a politician and the leader
of The Nazi party. Hitler was a
decorated veteran in World War I.
Hitler's Nazi Party became the largest
elected party in the German Reichstag,
leading to his appointment as
chancellor in 1933.
 When Germany lost in
World War I, Hitler
blamed the Jews for it.
He thought that they
were bad people. It
started when Germany
attacked Poland for no
reason. Britain and
France declared war on
Germany after Hitler had
refused to abort his
invasion of Poland.
 The Germans invaded most of the countries by a tactic
called the Blitzkreig or a lightning war. First, the
Panzers or the Tank division invade the country. The
Luftwaffe or the Air Force support the tanks. Last the
infantry finished off the job.
These were the worst
camps:
Auschwitz , Poland
Treblinka, Poland
Bergen Belsen , Germany
Chelmno , Poland
 Auschwitz opened in the
year 1942. It is said to be
one of the worst
concentration camps.
They killed around
20,000 people a day.
More than 1.4 million
people were killed there
during the war. It closed
in the year 1945.
 Gas chambers in
Auschwitz:
 Treblinka was a forced
labor camp and a death
camp. The workers were
forced to work in the gravel
pits and irrigation areas.
When they could no longer
work, the prisoners were
sent to the death camp;
Treblinka II. It is estimated
that at least 870,000 Jews
and Roma people were
killed at Treblinka.
 This prisoner of war camp
was located in Germany
was used primarily for
hostage exchanges. It is
estimated that about
50,000 prisoners died in
the camp, mainly of
typhus, which caused the
prisoners to become
feverish and often
deteriorate into a state of
delirium.
 When Bergen Belsen was
burnt down:
 This extermination camp
was infamous for its use of
gas vans. Prisoners were
herded into air-tight
compartments located in
the back of vans. The doors
were sealed and the van’s
exhaust system was
pumped into the air-tight
compartment until the
prisoners died of carbon
monoxide poisoning. It has
been estimated that more
than 150,000 people were
killed at Chelmno.
On the 22 June 1941 the Germans invaded Russia . If Hitler
captured Russia then almost all of Europe would be under
German control. Hundreds of Thousands of Russians were
either killed or captured during the invasion. Half their air
force was destroyed. But then the weather changed. Russia is
very, very cold in winter. The oil in German tanks froze and
soldiers froze to death. The Russians launched a counter –
attack and the y started to push them back to the border.
 The Allies landed on
Normandy beaches
on the 6th of June
1944. They set off to
free France. The
Germans were
forced to retreat. In
1944 paris was freed.
 Adolf and Eva were married on April 29, 1945 in the
very early hours of the morning. The wedding was held
in Hitler's private sitting room in their apartment at
the New Reich Chancellery in Berlin, Germany.
 Adolf and Eva were married by a low ranking Nazi
official, Walter Wagner. The wedding register was
signed by Joseph Goebbels and Martin Bormann. They
both comitted suicide the next day.
 The Germans surrendered on the 7th of may
1945.World war II offically ended on the 8th at
midnight. But the Japanese didn’t give up . America
had to drop the first Atomic Bomb on the 6TH of
august on Hiroshima. 70,000 people died. They still
didn’t give up. The second bomb on Nagasaki. 80,000
people died. They finally gave in .
