BANKING IN THE CLASSROOM Ashley Bailey Standard SS5E4 The student will identify the elements of a personal budget and explain why personal spending and saving decisions are important. Day 1 Define terms for activity Cost Debits Credits Earn Receive Budget Spending Saving Day 1 - Continued Students will brainstorm with the class and then create a Comic Life project to describe the credits and debits earned in the classroom. This project will be accessible to the student throughout the activity so they can keep up with their earnings. Ideas for credits: homework, an A, B, or C on a test, good attendance, etc. Ideas for debits: not prepared, F on a test, tardies, absences, etc. Day 2 Complete Comic Life and print Begin keeping track of debits and credits with a starting balance of $100.00 using template found here Discuss the importance of keeping track of money using a register Day 3-4 Review the idea of banking, business and personal finance. Functions: Businesses, Banks, & Government What is the function of business in our economy? What are the functions of banks in our economy?
