The rock cycle
Is like a group of changes

A Path of a rock through the rock cycle.


Temperature- A measure of the average
kinetic energy of individual atoms or
molecules in the substance
Pressure- Forced being aliped to something


Lava- Magma that reaches the surface.
Magma- Is molten material that forms deep
beneath earths surface.
LAVA
MAGMA

Is the breaking down of rocks, soils, and minerals
having contact with the atmosphere.
Weathering

Is naturally occurring
material that is broken
down by processes of
weathering and erosion.
Sediments are most
often transported by
water.

The rock cycle is important to me because its
forces has shaped earths surface for 4.5
billion years.
◦ There are three types of rock
Rock #1
IGNEOUS ROCK
These are rocks that solidified directly from molten silicates, which geologists call magma
Intrusive- Is a geologic term used to describe
igneous rock.
Extrusive- Formed from magma that has
flowed out of cracks in the Earth’s surface.

Texture-The feel or appearance of a surface.
-The textures that the igneous rock has is glassy and crystal.
Compaction- The consolidation of sediments.
-The compaction the igneous rock has is that the solid of the crust rock is thickened.
Ultramafic and Importance

Ultramafic- A rock of ultramatic composition
Importance- I think the igneous rock is
important because their minerals and
chemistry gives the geologist information.
 Rock
#2
Sedimentary
Formed when igneous rocks are eroded as a sediment under the sea.


Erosion- The gradual destruction or reduction
and weakening of something.
Deposition-


A compression of particles to make a dense
mass.
This has to do with the sedimentary rock
because an sedimentary rock formed on the
land and has a continual sedimentary
environment.


Clastic- An rock that is composed of
fragments of other rocks.
Chemical- A compound or substance that
has been purified or prepare.

I think Sedimentary rocks are important
because it contains the entire history of life
on earth.
 Rock
#3
Metamorphic
Made up of igneous and sedimentary rocks of all ages which have subjected to intense
Pressure.




Metamorphism- The composition or structure of a
rock.
Stress- Pressure or tension exerted on a material
object.
The sedimentary rock has to do with metamorphism
and that is, The limestone change into larger crystals.
Stress happens during metamorphism it can have a
profound effect on the texture of the rock.



Foliated- is a characteristic of some
metamorphosed rocks on which minerals are
aligned in one direction so that the rock can
readily be split in another direction.
Non-foliated-the appearance of certain
metamorphic rocks.
Sedimentary rocks are non-foliated.

Is a complex series of processes through
which all of the carbon atoms in existence
rotate.

I think the metamorphic is important because
the is one out of the three major important
rocks. And its comprising the earth.
