Future Water – key outcomes and objectives Future Water was launched on 7 February 2008 Natural Environment PSA* Secure a healthy natural environment for everyone’s wellbeing, health and prosperity, now and in the future; and reflect in decision-making the value of the services that it provides Departmental Strategic Objective A healthy, resilient and diverse natural environment Departmental Intermediate Outcome Sustainable water use, aiming to achieve a balance between water quality, environment, supply and demand Future Water outcomes No deterioration in water quality, improving to ‘good ecological status’ by 2015, improved biodiversity and ecology with increased value from recreation Climate change mitigation and adaptation Sustainable use of water resources with no interruptions to essential supply during drought High levels of drinking water quality Fair, affordable and cost reflective water charges * N.B.
