Vietnamese Non-Governmental Organizations
and Climate Change Network (VNGO&CC)
established 2008, ar. 100 members (N+C)
Aims:
• promoting information sharing among its members
• cooperating with the Government to help Vietnamese
people better respond to climate change
Current Capacity Building Project (DFAD CCAG):
Strengthening the role of Vietnamese NGOs in
climate change communications and policy
advocacy
Issues the project aims to address
• Government doesn’t recognize VNGOs abilities
and role as important partners to improve
effectiveness of the government’s response CC.
• Lack of an effective communication system, a
coherent communication strategy and formally
recognized cooperation mechanisms and
channels.
 Limited role of VNGOs in climate change
communication and advocacy
 Inadequate working relationship amongst the network
members
Framework for developing the project’s communication and advocacy strategy
DFAT Project Goal
To improve the effectiveness of Vietnam’s
response to climate change through
enhancing the capacity of civil society
networks and increasing NGO engagement
in climate policy.
Project Objectives
The VNGO&CC network will be
strengthened through an improved
structure, stronger internal and external
communication and coordinating
mechanisms;
The engagement of NGOs in policy
formation and implementation processes
will be more visible and meaningful
through strengthened capability, which will
assist the development of communities’
good practices.
