Chabot College Fall 2003 Course Outline for Physical Education 2 ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE TRAINING Catalog Description: PHED 2APT – Athletic Performance Training May be repeated three times. 1 unit A structured and monitored sport-specific neuromuscular training program for student athletes providing individualized workouts to enhance performance and prevent or rehabilitate injuries. Corequisite: PHED 30-50. 3 hours. Prerequisite Skills: None Expected Outcomes for the Students: Upon completion of the course the student should be able to: 1. establish intermediate and long-term training goals; 2. provide quantitative feedback on the progress in meeting goals; 3. establish appropriate training volume and intensities; 4. perform sport-specific exercises in a appropriate joint angle and movement pattern; 5. demonstrate an understanding of work-to-rest training ratio; 6. exercise in prescribed manner and in an appropriate sequence; 7. make adjustments to existing training programs; 8. demonstrate safe and effective use of the strength training equipment.
