The Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) is located on Level 4 of the Cardiovascular Center
(CVC) and has 24 private patient rooms with sliding glass break-away doors. It is
comprised of two geographical Teams: Team 1, beds #1-12, and Team 2, beds
#13-24. The Clean Supply rooms, Soiled Utility rooms & Medication rooms are
located at each end of this large ICU. We employ approximately 100 Nurses & 17
Patient Care Associates (ICU Techs) and 1-2 Clerks per shift are provided by the
Central Staffing Resource dept. CVICU is the primary unit for these adult medical
service lines: Cardiac Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Heart & Lung Transplant
Surgery, and Thoracic General Surgery. The RNs recover patients directly from
the CVC OR.
