
In the Yo form of tener, the letter
g appears:

Notice the letter I

After the Yo form we see the
appearance of the letter I in the

In Spanish, the verb tener is

the verb “to be” is used in

Hunger/Thirst

¿Cuántos años tienes? (how
old are you)
Tengo quince años. (I am fifteen
years old)
The above sentences loosely
translate into English as: How
many years do you have? & I
have fifteen years.
Hambre/Sed

As with age, it is necessary to
use tener when discussing
hunger and thirst.

¿Tienes tú hambre? (are you
hungry)
Si, tengo hambre. (yes, I am
hungry)
Tengo sed. (I am thirsty)


